The Origin of Mexico by Kevin

Have you ever wondered how Mexico became its own country? The discovery of it will make you smile.

Mexico is officially known as the United Mexican States which in Spanish means Estados Unidos Mexicanos. Mexico is the fifth-largest country in the Americas and the 14th largest independent nation in the world.

Mexico has an estimated population of 111 million people. Mexxico is a federation of 31 states and a Federal District, the capital city.
Spain was under the conquer of Spain until September 16, 1810 and its independence was recognized on September 27, 1821.

After Mexico defeated Spain the new country would be named after its capital, Mexico City which was founded in 1524.Mexicans were called Mextli. Benito Juarez led Mexicans to victory in the war of ''La Reforma''.

The Mexican flag is a vertical tri-color of green, white, and red with the national coat of arms charged in the center of the white stripe.
The coat of arms derives from an Aztec legend that their gods told them to build a city where they found an eagle eating serpent on a nopal. This is how Mexico was originated.
