Harry Houdini by christian and sean

Harry Houdini (born Erik Weisz; March 24, 1874 – October 31, 1926) was a Hungarian-born American magician and escapologist, stunt performer, actor and film producer noted for his sensational escape acts.

Not much people know of the works of Harry Houdini. Along time ago he was a famous,"magician." Harry did many tricks including the milk can, suspended straitjacket escape, the chinese water torture cell, the overboard box escape, and being buried alive.

Houdini is one of the most known magicians of all time. He was about 5'5 and didn't weigh much. A college student asked to punch Houdini to test Houdini's strength. He got about 3 punches before Harry could tighten up his stomach muscles. Houdini was in pain after and as a result he died.

Many illusionists and magicians such as Criss Angel and David Blaine still do his tricks today. Harry is one of the famous magicians still today.

Bike Riding by Kandice Davis

Riding a bike without breaks was fun. My class did this for 5 weeks, every Monday.I enjoyed it so much. The whole class did that and we learned alot of stuff.

The bike track was 5 small circles-- red line, black line, a black backstop and a blue line. It also had 4 corners.

We also had do make-up riding on the last week but that was done on a Friday, and usually to make up for a missed bike riding session on Monday. It was a tiring time but it was also a workout. So now that we are finished with the program we get to have a race the day before Mothers Day. It's going to start at 2:00 until 4:00.

So we just did this race on Saturday and I won 2nd place in 1 of the races that we did and I was so happy and my mom was also happy of me for getting 2nd place. We also got a certificate saying that we completed the program.

For people that want to do more bike riding they have a opportunity to come on Thursday's at the Velodurm and practice on more racing.

The Little Mermaid REAL story by: NaOmY

Hey you guys!, Im so sorry for make you guys wait a lot , but im back so im here to tell about what disney do to make money, changing the old stories into little girl's favorite stories. Now this time i got the fairy tale of ''The Little Mermaid'', which has a lot of drama, like other old stories im going to tell next time.

The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid as we known as ''ariel'' (you can call her like you want) reach 15 and when mermaids reach 15 they are allow to go to the surface and watch the world above, so the little mermaid went to the surface and saw the ''prince'' on board of a boat and ''Ariel'' falls in love at the distance, but there was a storm and the boat sank so ''Ariel'' save the prince's life and leave him in the sea shore where was a temple near there, then the prince's eyes open and saw ''Ariel'' and when he blink she was not there and saw another woman who take him into the temple but he was still fainted so he couldn't see really well.

''Ariel'' returns to the sea and asks her grandmother whether humans can live forever if they do not drown. The grandmother explains that humans have a much shorter lifespan than mermaids(In the story, mermaids can live over 300 years), but when mermaids die they turn into sea foam and cease to exist (means that they dissappear from earth, they don't have any soul or afterlife), while humans have an eternal soul that lives forever on heaven.

''Ariel'' was longing for the prince so she visits the sea witch, who sells her a potion that gives her legs, in exchange of her tongue (''Ariel'' has the most intoxicating voice in the world, that means that she has the most beautiful voice in the world). The sea witch warns her that once she becomes a human, she will never return to the sea. Drinking the potion will make her feel like of a sword is being pass throught her, once she recovers she will have two beautiful legs, and will be able to dance like no human has dance before. However, it will constantly feel like she's walking on sharp swords and her feet will bleed most terribly.

The little mermaid, in addition she will only get a soul if she finds true love's kiss and if the prince loves her and marries her. Otherwise, if the prince marries other girl, the little mermaid will die brokenhearted and disintegrate into sea foam. The little mermaid drinks the potion and meets the prince, who is attracted to her beauty and grace and even though she was mute. Most of all the prince loves to see her dance, and she dances for him even she have to endure her painful price.

When the prince's father orders his son to marry the neighboring king's daughter, the prince tell the little mermaid she will not marry her because he doesn't love the king's daughter. The prince say he can only love the girl from the temple but he thinks that the little mermaid was her but she takes the temple girl in his heart.

Once the prince met the princess, he recognized her as the temple girl and the wedding is announced, and finally the prince brokes little mermaid's heart. The little mermaid thinks of all she has given up and all she has suffered. She despairs, thinking of the death that awaits her, but before dawn, her sisters bring her a knife that the sea witch has given them in exchange of their long hair. If the little mermaid kills the prince and let's his blood drip on her feet, she will become a mermaid again, all her suffering will end and she will live out her full life.

The little mermaid cannot kill the prince so she throws herself in the sea, her body dissolves into foam, but instead of ceasing to exist, she feels the warmth of the sun, she has turn into a spirit, a doughter of the air. Other spirits tell her she has become like that because she strove with all her heart to gain an eternal soul. She will her own soul for her good deeds and she will eventually rise up the kingdom of god.

Ok, i know it's hard to believe but i think that this story make people belive in love and to give all our hearts on people you love, even if they don't deserve it.

How I Feel About Music, By Edith

When I feel stuck from inside I listen to music and rest a little and later I feel good.

I think that's the point -- not to feel stuck anymore. To me, what is therapeutic about music is that I like to sing and dance to it and follow the step.

I like songs in Spanish because I think they have more action.Spanish music has romantic salssa regeton and there are more kinds of songs. Some other people think that English songs are much better, but I don't think so.Some artists sing of their pasts, and some of them of their future.

Some of them tell sad songs about their familly. I like regeton, romantic, and happy, exciting music. Those are the songs that I like the most.

Unthinkable by: Andrea

Alicia Keys song unthinkable is a heart breaking song becuase the story behind is a sad story.

Unthinkable music video is a great reminder of racism has a bad impact on black and white people. Alicia Keys story behind her song is how her and a white guy fall in love. And she is saying how their love is unthinkable to other people. So they start to sneak around untill her brother finds out so her brother and her boyfriend get in to a fight. When they stop fight the boyfried is all jacked up. He says, " Why am I not good enough for your sister?"

The end of the video/ her boyfriend pulls up in his pick up truck waiting for her in the front of her house. She goes to the door and stops. She grabs the door knob and thats when the video ends with out knowing if she goes or stays.

Best rock and roll bands by Christian and Sean

Rock and roll has been revived and has survived by young rock bands and a reissuing and resampling of the old. Ever wondered why old rock bands still have compilations of their greatest works and their CDs on your local music stand? Rock music aficionados know the importance of having massive music collections that showcase the most influential bands of all time.
Consider this top ten list your rock music 101. It’s tough to put together a top ten list of the most amazing rock bands of all time, but arrange and rearrange the following and you still have the best of the best, long before the emo movement took over the airwaves.
Our top ten pick of the most amazing rock bands of all time are as follows:

#1 The Beatles

You can’t say “rock music”, or just “music” for that matter without remembering the Beatles. They are, without a doubt, the most influential and one of the best bands to have ever walked this earth. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr are some of the most revered rock legends today.
These British lads led the “British Invasion” and caused Beatlemania in different countries around the world. They wrote brilliant songs that ranged from pop to rock, experimenting along the way. To this day, they are still credited for their massive influence on musicians that came after them.

#2 Led Zeppelin

If you can’t say “music” without the Beatles popping into mind, Led Zeppelin is the epitome of Rock and Roll. Their main career lasted for just over ten years, from 1969 to 1979; however, during that period, they were known as the most popular rock band in the world.
They sold more than 200 million records worldwide. Today, the band continues to captivate the hearts and minds of rockers with their rock-ladened interpretation of folk-rock and blues-rock with an infusion of rockabilly, soul, reggae, jazz, funk, pop and other music genres.
Although the band’s music is heavy on guitars, there’s no denying the impact created by Robert Plant’s unique and powerful vocals. Jimmy Page weaves magic with his wailing guitar solos, while John Paul Jones creates heart-pounding music with his bass and excellent keyboard skills. Their drummer John Bonham, up to his death, was surely one magnificent sight as he blisteringly pounded through the music with his fast and skillful drumming.
Any top ten list of rock and roll greats just wouldn’t be right without these English lads.

#3 The Rolling Stones

To be honest, it was actually a toss between Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones for second place. The Rolling Stones have, without a doubt, earned the title of “The World’s Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll Band.” Their rise to popularity came after the Beatles said “adieu” to their band career and decided to work on solo projects.
To this day, The Rolling Stones continue to entertain and speed up the beating hearts of old and young audiences as the legendary band performs their unique combo of rhythm-and-blues-infused rock music.
The third English rock band on the list was formed in 1962 and has been playing ever since. Although they started out covering some R&B and American blues songs, they quickly established themselves as a formidable rock act with the release of their massive hit single “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”

#4 Queen

One of the most diverse and highly talented bands ever, Queen lands in the well-deserved number four position. Freddie Mercury’s voice is just absolutely unforgettable, and who could dispute the incendiary quality of Brian May’s solos and riffs?
Their most popular song may be the smash hit “Bohemian Rhapsody”, with its opera-rock-classical fusion, but their other songs mark their versatility as a rock band. You can also check out their diversity and their musical creativity with the intense and highly melodic vocal harmonies, the audience participation in live performances and their multi-layered arrangements.
Massive kudos to this great band.

#5 The Ramones

Our first American band on the list, the Ramones are credited for being the first punk rock group. This American punk band has amazing energy, humor, attitude and fantastic noise to share as evidenced by their outstanding music and highly memorable songs. They helped breathe new life to rock and roll right when it was needed during the 1970s.
Their punk style has been copied by various younger bands in the past decades, which gives this band a well-deserved fifth place.

#6 Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd is, without the slightest doubt, one of the most experimental and eccentric bands in this list. This English rock band is highly recognized for its cinematic sound and unique psychedelic rock music. As the years went by, Pink Floyd’s sound became more progressive than psychedelic, earning them praise from various music critics during their time.
Each of their songs has highly philosophical and almost poetic lyrics. The cover art for their albums was innovative and artistic, and their live shows were known to be amazing and elaborate. Their sonic experimentation has also earned them the label of one of the greatest rock bands during the peak of their music career.

The Band Members of Pink Floyd
They’ve sold around 74.5 million albums in the US alone, and were a huge success in the London underground music scene during the late 60s. Sid Barrett led the band until his erratic behavior eventually forced his band mates to kick him out of the band.
Their music has influenced great rock artists like Genesis, Yes, David Bowie, Radiohead, Tool and Dream Theater.

#7 The Doors

If there’s one thing that should be remembered about this amazing band, it’s that they had a sound that was all their own. They infused jazz and blues with rock to create their own unique rock and roll sound.
You probably remember The Doors as Jim Morrison’s band, but aside from his powerful and strangely hypnotic vocals, another interesting fact about the band is that all the other members were talented enough to create excellent music sans bass guitar.
What they lacked on bass, they made up with great keyboards, drums and guitars. Since Morrison’s untimely death in 1971, the band has sold more than 76 million albums worldwide.

American rock band formed in 1965
#8 The Sex Pistols

With lyrics like “I am an Antichrist! I am an anarchist!” the Sex Pistols scream “punk” loud and clear. They may not have been the first punk band in history, but they’re certainly one of the most popular punk rock bands to have walked this planet.

The Sex Pistols
The English punk band was formed in 1975. Originally, the members were Johnny Rotten (vocals), Paul Cook (drums), Steve Jones (guitars) and Glen Matlock (bass). Matlock was later replaced by the infamous Sid Vicious.
The band may have lasted for a mere three years, but their music has no doubt initiated and influenced the punk movement in the United Kingdom.
#9 U2

Aside from their unique and constantly progressing and evolving sound, what makes this band absolutely worthy of being called one of the greatest bands in history is their consistency in providing the world with rockin’ great sound.
U2 was formed in 1976, in Dublin, Ireland. The members were, and still are, Bono (vocals and guitar), Adam Clayton (bass), The Edge (guitar, vocals and keyboards) and Larry Mullen Jr. (percussion/drums). They are considered one of the most popular rock bands in the world, having sold over 170 million albums and winning a whopping total of 22 Grammy Awards in the process.
The band still continues to produce great music for their millions upon millions of fans around the world.

#10 Nirvana

You can’t think of grunge without remembering Nirvana. This American rock band shot to fame with their raw and catchy single “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” Kurt Cobain, the talented and doomed vocalist of Nirvana, started the band with Krist Novoselic. Although they had a string of drummers, the drummer that stayed with the band longest was Dave Grohl, now the frontman of another super rock band, the Foo Fighters.

The band had a very short but extremely successful run in the music industry, producing hit after hit and penetrating the mainstream to introduce the grunge sound. Cobain, who was unable to come to terms with the pressure brought by the fame, committed suicide in April 1994. Even today, Nirvana’s music is still played by hundreds of radio stations around the world, proving that beyond Cobain’s death, Nirvana’s music lives on.
If you love rock music, then take the time to get to know the pillars of rock and roll. If you enjoy reading this article, you’ll be delighted to learn the Five Ways to Convince people you’re a Rock god.

scariest movies by christian

Hello alot of people aren't into scary movies and alot of people are. IF YOU ARE THEN KEEP READING.

There are alot of scary movies in the world such as The Grudge, Chainsaw Massacre, and Scream. But what movie is the scariest? Here is a list of the top ten scariest movies in the world.

ACCORDING TO-MSN MOVIE NEWS, these are the top ten scariest movies of all time

10. "Eraserhead" (1977)David Lynch's cult classic is the closest thing to being stuck in a nightmare: Not much makes sense, but you get the feeling that nothing is quite right. Lynch employs dinners that walk off the plate, eerie silences that become deafening and an infant that makes Rosemary's baby seem cute and cuddly. So chilling it's damn near unwatchable.9.

"The Exorcist" (1973)The real terror of "The Exorcist" may not involve Satan and possession, but the helplessness of a parent trying to save a child. Of course, a ton of harrowing special effects and director William Friedkin's somber respect for the supernatural subject matter doesn't hurt either. It's horror for grown-ups.

8. "Halloween" (1978)John Carpenter's film is blamed for the rash of slasher films that destroyed the genre in the '80s, but "Halloween" possesses a style and intensity that most of its copycats lack. From the opening sequence -- when we see through the eyes of little boy Michael Myers as he stalks and murders his sister -- onward, the film relies on suspense rather than sensationalism. Our fear is caused by what might happen rather than actual events, as Carpenter spends a good amount of time in darkness, making us see things that may or may not be there.

7. "Don't Look Now" (1973)Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie head to Venice to forget the tragic accidental death of their child. However, it's impossible to forget when the dead child keeps reappearing. Nicolas Roeg's labyrinthine film is rich in dreamlike atmosphere and works on a purely psychological level: It disorients, frustrates and builds to a horrible climax, reminding that tragedy can never be forgotten ... and neither can this film.

6. "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974)A group of annoying teens make a wrong turn on a road trip through Texas and encounter the most dysfunctional family imaginable. It's a teen exploitation flick shot like a documentary. Wonderfully grim, mean and inhumane, director Tobe Hooper's debut doesn't spill much blood, instead opting to giddily, relentlessly torture and chase its audience (much like Leatherface treats his victims) for 80 minutes. It feels like days.

5. "Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984) Before dream-killer Freddy Krueger became a quipping pop-culture reference, he represented the most twisted monster unleashed on the public since Halloween's Michael Myers. Seeking vengeance by slicing and dicing the children of the parents who murdered him, Freddy scared the hell out of Cineplex audiences. His on-screen entrance remains terrifying, as does much of director Wes Craven's surreal, smart and shocking masterpiece.

4. "Suspiria" (1977)"Suspiria" is a full-on sensory assault by Italian horror master Dario Argento, the cinematic equivalent of an anxiety attack. A poor American ballet student arrives in Europe and Argento berates her with weather, grisly murders, a possible coven of witches, his virtuosic camera, and possible the freakiest score ever conceived (by the director himself). The plot barely makes sense, so just let it terrorize you.

3. "Night of the Living Dead" (1968)A group of kids get trapped inside a farm house by an endless stream of flesh-eating zombies. Sounds silly, but director George Romero takes his simple premise and redefines the genre with a shoestring budget. The amount of sadistic gore, the claustrophobic tension, the rising levels of hysteria and an increasingly deflated awareness that a happy ending is impossible make this a nasty classic. There is no hope here, only suffocating terror.

2. Repulsion (1965) Director Roman Polanski did more horror afterward, with "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Tenant," but this -- a menacing, nightmarish profile of one woman's descent into madness -- may be his most realized effort. Catherine Denueve embodies sexual repression as a young woman left alone in her apartment -- and to her deluded fantasies -- for the weekend. The film is nearly silent, creating a mounting mood of dread. Try watching it alone with the lights off and see how long you last.1.

"Psycho" (1960)Alfred Hitchcock's blueprint for contemporary horror: More than just a film, "Psycho" was a cultural slap in the face. Censors wanted to ban it, while screaming audiences couldn't get enough of it. Hitch employs all of his tricks -- shifting audience sympathies, killing off the main character halfway through the film and a ton of macabre humor -- but more importantly he makes the horror internal. Norman Bates isn't a monster in the classic sense; he suggests that the greatest evil can lurk beneath the quietest, most pleasant surface

These are the top ten scary movies that people in our class are scared most of.

5.Nightmare On Elm Street http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179056/

So those are the top ten scariest movies(class opinion)

Catalina Part1 and Part II, Reyna & Faith

Have you ever been to Catalina Island? We haven't either! :O

We're excited and nervous to go to Catalina Island. We think that there will be tents and we will sleep on the floor, with lots of bugs. Also that it will be dirty and that the food wouldn't be very good. We are most nervous about snorkling, kayaking, and about looking funny in the wet suits. We are also nervous about the other kids laughing at us. We are also afraid that we will be super cold at night. We think that there will be animals going in our tent an distroying our clothes. Before we go to Catalina we have to do research on the island and when we did the research it looked really beautiful, also it had pictures of hotels and restuarants.

Catalina Part 2

We went to Catalina Island and it was amazing and beautiful.

We woke up at 4:30 in the morning and Mr.S came to pick us up at blues apartment. We went to the the dock, to get on our boat. The boat ride was windy and bumpy. We thought that Catalina would also be like a farm, but our fist impression was that it was beautiful, like Hawaii. When we first saw the ocean it was light , turqouise blue, and looked really clean. It was really quiet, we could hear birds-no cars, no sirens.

Snorkeling was really hard for us, water went inside our masks, and we were very afraid of drowning. We got to pet sharks, sea hair. It was kind of scary, we were worried they would bite us, but they didn't. Some of the sharks are only found on Catalina. Sleeping at night was a little scary, so we held hands all night but it did get easier. The food on Catalina was actually good. Catalina Island was an amazing and beautiful trip. If we could have another chance to go to Catalina Island we would take that chance because we want to try kayaking at night and spend time with our friends again.

WE LOVE CATALINA ISLAND! :D

My First Plane Ride, by Kandice

I never rode on a plane before until last July.

It was fun but scary at the same time. My sister and I left July 5th to come to San Deigo to come visit my aunt and uncle. We rode on a plane. We left the house at 7am in the morning we didn't get in until like around 8pm in the evening.

The plane ride was fun because it was me and my sister alone for a long time and it was also scary because we could have been taking by soome random person. Also it was scary because it was our first time riding a plane for the first time and when we lifted up to the sky it felt like I was about to fall out when I was looking out the window.

I had fun on my first plane ride in July. Being alone up in the air far away from home without my parents was a weird experince.

I will give you whatever you need,
a hug, kiss just tells me please.

To see you cry is a terrable sight,
Just let me love you and hold you tight.

I'll do anything to make you proud,

I love you to much to see you cry,
Please sweetheart don't say goodbye.

Don't push me away I must stay near,
to gently wipe away the tears.

If we must truly say goodbye,
one more time just close your eyes.

And let us share one final kiss,
for you are the love i will forever miss!

My friend wrote this poem and i think it is cute. I love this poem because it tells the truth about when you miss somebody and you would do anything to see that person again, and that to share you last moment with them. Personaly I think this poem is the best poem i ever read because it shows the reality of love and feelings for each other. Plus I hope you enjoy/like it yourself the way i did.

I wrote this poem because I had a boyfriend we loved each other so before I left Washington we came up with a poem together so we will never forget about each other.
